United Airlines implementing wheelchair access and information.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) recently announced that United Airlines is beginning to implement the terms of a disability complaint brought against them, incorporating a number of measures to make their services more accommodating for passengers who use wheelchairs. These measures are being taken after the resolution of a claim brought by Engracia Figueroa, including a flight search filter to find wheelchair-safe flights, refunds for flights that cannot accommodate wheelchairs, and options for those whose wheelchairs were damaged during transportation.
“Everyone ought to be able to travel safely and with dignity, and I’m glad that United is taking steps to improve their service for passengers who use wheelchairs,” said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “For our part, we at DOT will continue working to make air travel safer and more accessible for people with disabilities, and for the millions of Americans who step on a plane every day.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- With gratitude to the Lord for the improvements that have been made in society to accommodate those with special needs.
- For Secretary Buttigieg as he seeks to ensure that airline passengers receive appropriate refund options from airlines for canceled or unaccommodating flights.
- For DOT, NTSB, FAA, and TSA officials in their efforts to improve the safety of air travel.
